Life is too short to hold on to any hostility towards anyone. This holds true especially with family.
I have family members that have continually over the years done horrible things to my mom and sister (lying , stealing. etc). And guess what?
I still plan to have a civil conversation with one of them this week. I can’t afford to hold a grudge that will prevent me from being the best version of myself.
I cannot give everyone that continues to read this blog my authentic, loving self if I am secretly harboring anger.
That would make me a hypocrite.
Instead I plan on expressing how I feel towards this person openly and then express my love.
The reason is twofold.
One: I have to let go of the anger, so it doesn’t eat me alive. You can walk around upset and have a heart attack, meanwhile the other person is not even thinking about you. It’s better to just let it out.
Two: Love is unconditional. That doesn’t mean I have to allow someone to hurt me. We all have a responsibility to guard our hearts. So I can still love you but it may be from a distance.
