The power of expectation

I conduct a lot of mini experiments throughout the week and this week’s was using the power of expectation. I was in California at a conference and I met some people who thought that it would be a waste of time.

Guess what? They did not stay for the whole conference and missed out on some great information. Meanwhile I said to myself “self you are going to learn more about business, leadership and growth.”

I hopped back on the plane with about five pages of notes and new insights. The difference between me and the negative Nancy’s is strictly perspective. I EXPECTED to be impacted, so got something out of it.

I believe that you have the power to receive your desires if you expect them to come to past and this is with anything in your life. If you want a new relationship (yes you should work on yourself first then follow this advice) then you have to expect it to happen while going after it.

Go on match.com or okcupid.com. Go to places where people have the same interests as you, not just the bar. Seriously, I spoke to a woman earlier who meets men at crafting events.

If you want to be a music artist….record music then advertise and sell it. Expect that people will buy it because you have put in the time and effort to make something worth sharing.

I have two friends that are musically inclined. One has natural singing ability but doesn’t believe people will take him seriously. The other has been working on his craft since 2009, markets his music on youtube, cdbaby, and a personal website.

Guess which one has fans across the country and is making money off of their passion? Now guess why….EXPECT it!

  1. This is what they call “The Law of Attraction”.

What we hold in our mind tends to unfold in our life.

If you believe that you can, you are right. If you believe that you can’t, you are not wrong.

I believe that having the right attitude, someone could achieve literally anything he sets his mind to.

    Xaric!

  2. The power of expectation, this is so great, this sounds something like the law of attraction. If you expect good things to happen then it will but if you are negative then expect the negative and nothing more. many persons have close the door to their opportunity just because they looked at things in the negative way but if we want success, then we must think success and act like we are successful and in the long run we will have it because we expect it. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Norman thank you for stopping by! Your words have actually encouraged me after having a long long long week

  3. I like how you did some of your own testing on the Power of Expectation. A lot of people are all talk and no action, but it is the Doers of the world that accomplish their dreams. You’ve inspired me to do my own little test this week and use Expectation for some positive benefits.

How do you like to keep a positive expectation in your mind from day to day? Do you do any affirmations, or write it down where you’ll see it each day, or something else? Just looking for some ideas.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Nick. I love to test out different theories in my everyday life and I encourage you to do the same. Let me know how it works out for you.

I hold on to positive expectations by writing down what I really want to accomplish or what outcome I am looking for. For instance, I once went without a job for 3 months and interviewed on a weekly basis. I wrote it will all work out one side of a post it note and what job I really wanted on the other side. I carried this in my pocket with my credit card and license for the entire 3 months. I also read this note before and after every interview. Long story short, I got the position I wanted making more money than in my previous role.

Also, starting your day with thinking about what you are thankful for, then imagining your expectation helps me to. I often imagine an outcome over and over in my head before it actually happens. This just sets your day and mind toward your goal before you have time to doubt yourself.
