Exodus 23 20 commentary- Protection on your personal journey

My theme for this weekend has been how you are provided for during life’s toughest tests, which leads me to my Exodus 23 20 commentary. There is always protection on your personal journey.

The verse we are examining states: “See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you.” This of course was a promise to Moses but this is also extended to each and every one of us.

We have an individual road that we must travel and from time to time you may feel abandoned or as if you are walking alone. But there is a promise that an angel will bring us, without harm to the destination we are seeking.

God’s presence and additional angelic help goes before us and creates a level of armor that keeps us intact while encountering the tough terrain of our travels. The bumps in the road, the dry places, the periods where nothing seems to be going right, the times where the money isn’t matching the bills.

Then there is a secondary piece to this equation. Outward protection is provided but what about the inner negative feelings we have during the downs in our lives?

We must KNOW that God will work it out. That’s the second piece: awareness of the presence that is guarding you, surrounding you. Otherwise you may reach the end of your road with too many scars, injuries both internally and externally to fully enjoy its benefits.

A way is being made for you.
